In a ground breaking ceremony on Thursday 8th July 2021, Prime Minister Imran Khan launched Pakistan’s first ever locally manufactured electric motorcycle, Jolta Electric. Speaking at a ceremony in Islamabad, the prime minister said the launch of the electric motorcycle is a “futuristic step”, adding that his government's new electric vehicle policy has laid down a plan and has defined a direction for the future. During his speech, the prime minister said the EV policy was part of the larger initiative of making the country clean and green."EVs, particularly electric motorcycles as they are used more, will have to be introduced in cities to curb pollution," he said. Terming the manufacturing of electric bikes a futuristic and positive step, he said that we have to manufacture electric buses and cars in order to address the issue of pollution in big cities where the pollution level has reached dangerous levels.
Jolta Electric is a new beginning to reduce pollution and protect the environment. It is a major step towards electrifying the country’s automobile industry. It will contribute to Pakistan’s wealth as these bikes are manufactured locally. Jolta EV technology, an initiative by AUJ Technologie Private Ltd, is the EV technology provider, designed key components of electric vehicle kits for two, three, and four-wheelers. It has been through five years of product designing, development, and manufacturing experience in China.
